"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand

and for a talk beside the fire, it is the time for home." ~ Edith Sitwell

Baby, it's cold outside!  The weather has certainly changed and we are now in the thick of a winter chill.  A few things to keep in mind:
  • Kids really benefit from a fresh air break during the day.  In that spirit, we will go outside for recess whenever we can manage it!  Please make sure your child has appropriate clothes such as hats, gloves, a winter coat and pants!
  • Our school doors officially open at 8:35 AM.  As stated in our directory, "Students should not arrive prior to 8:30 AM without parental supervision as the school does not provide supervision before the school day."  This item is of particular note now that it is so cold outside.  We will allow students to wait inside beginning at 8:30 AM if conditions warrant inside line up (frigid temperatures, whipping wind, rain).  If you child arrives before that time, they will have to wait outside as we do not have staffing to monitor students inside at that point in time.
  • Please label every item of clothing that you can!  It is helpful for us to get items back to the correct owner.
Most importantly, have a lovely holiday break with your family!  It is a wonderful time of year to take stock of all of the great things in our life and I hope that Somerville tops the list!  Your children certainly are on the top of ours.
